Start the day with one of Baja’s most unforgettable encounters: swimming alongside whale sharks in the waters of La Paz. Swimming beside these giant animals is an incredible experience, but it also comes with an important responsibility. We follow all local regulations and wildlife guidelines, keeping a respectful distance and allowing the animals to move freely in their natural environment.
And when the adventure on the water is over, there’s only one way to celebrate: tacos. We’ll head into La Paz for a local taco crawl, exploring some of the city’s favorite spots and tasting different styles of tacos along the way. You’ll get to experience the city one taco at a time.
Because experiencing Baja isn’t just about getting in the water. It’s about tasting it, meeting its people, and discovering the culture that makes this place unique.

Important Info
- The whale shark season runs from October 1 through April 30 in a protected refuge area within La Paz Bay. The area is regulated by local authorities to help protect the whale shark population (Rhincodon typus).
- A maximum of 56 boats are permitted each day, divided into four time slots with 14 boats per slot: 7:00 AM, 10:00 AM, 12:00 PM and 2:00 PM Your time slot is assigned according to availability and cannot be guaranteed in advance.
- Confirmation schedule: For the 7:00 AM and 10:00 AM slots, confirmation will be received before 3:30 PM the day before the activity. For the 12:00 PM and 2:00 PM slots, confirmation will be received before 7:30 AM on the day of the activity. Because we work with wildlife and protected areas, schedules are subject to local regulations, availability, and weather and ocean conditions.

Frequently Asked Questions
No. You don't need to be an experienced snorkeler, but you should be comfortable swimming in open water. Our guide will provide a safety briefing and help you get comfortable with your equipment before entering the water.
Yes. Whale shark encounters in La Paz are regulated to help protect the animals and their habitat. We follow the applicable local rules and responsible wildlife-viewing practices during the experience.
After our time with the whale sharks, we'll explore La Paz through its food. We'll visit selected local taco spots and taste different Baja-style tacos while learning more about the flavors and food culture of the region.
